Paper sepia was still getting used within the nineties; a floor plan could be drawn on vellum, then the electrical plan filled in on the paper sepia. Since architects can now draw on a pc and print straight from the file, vellum has gone out of normal use for drafting (though some schools train hand drafting on vellum so students aren’t fully dependent on computer systems). Artists still use vellum, for tracing over a pencil sketch and transferring it to canvas.
